Group Games

You need at least 7 people to play this game. All players stand in a circle and holds hands.
One person is chosen as the Farmer and stands in the middle of the circle. Everyone else walks around him in a circle while singing ,"The farmer in the dell, the farmer in the dell, heigh ho, the derry-oh the farmer in the dell"

While everyone is circling , the farmer is looking at everyone deciding who to pick next . Once around the circle the next verse is, "The farmer takes a wife , the farmer takes a wife, heigh ho the derry-oh the farmer takes a wife. The farmer then picks "a wife" to bring into the circle with him.

The two stand in the circle and the rest continue walking around, holding hands singing the verses that follow.
The next verse is - "The wife takes a child, the wife takes a child, etc."
then the second person inside the circle chooses a third person to be the child.
This continues with "The child takes a dog . . .," "The dog takes a cat . . .,"
"The cat takes a rat . . .," and "The rat takes the cheese . . .."

Once the cheese is chosen and brought into the circle - he/she stays in the circle while all the others join back into the outer circle, all players hold hands and start walking in the circle singing the final verse.
The final verse is, "The cheese stands alone, the cheese stands alone, heigh ho the derry-oh the cheese stands alone.
